Does anyone know what the “Pony Cars” are from the big three auto makers?

Question by fluffy: Does anyone know what the “Pony Cars” are from the big three auto makers?
and are the “mid size” cars what they currently use in NASCAR today?
Isn’t the Impala, Charger, and Fusion mid size cars?

Best answer:

Ford Mustang.
Chevy Camaro.
Dodge Challenger.

No.
All the originals were discontinued or tragically revised (Mustang II). What’s out there today are all resurrected versions. They have tried to stay true to the original concept, which was high horsepower and big power to weight ratios, but emission and MPG requirements limit the comparison. Actually, today’s versions, depending on your criteria of “best’, with their improved safety Equipment and computerized engine efficiencies, may even be better.

The “Pony Cars” that are manufactured by the big 3 are the Camero by GM, Mustang by Ford and the Challenger by Dodge. They have been rumored to be the cars Nascar might use in the future in the Nationwide Series but only a rumor.
