Is my transmission still good?
I posted this question before but I think all the Jeep people were out wheeling =)
Last year, my 97 XJ (2 wheel drive) got T-Boned and was totaled. I kept the car for salvage. Unfortunately, the ^$! tow truck driver towed it with the drive wheels on the ground in park instead of neutral. I plan on swapping the transmission into another jeep, and was wondering what damage this would have done, and what I would probably have to repair/replace in it.

all the Park gear does is locks a shaft through the tranny to prevent it from turning. shouldn’t be an expensive repair.
well, the transmission should be taken apart and looked at, but im guessing it would still be ok. it may not have been enough stress to break anyhting.
The problem with towing with the wheels on the ground is that the components in the back of the transmission are spinning, but the front of the trans isn’t, namely the torque convertor area. This also happens to be where the fluid pump is inside the transmission. So, having components inside the transmission spin without being lubricated by the pump can cause wear in the back of the trans. If it was towed fast or for more than a mile or two, I would recommend rebuilding the transmission to inspect it and be sure that you are installing a reliable unit into the new truck. Hope this helps.
